While Great Lakes is not currently certified by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), many of our products are gluten free. Note that in some cases this means that the product or factory is not actually tested for gluten because gluten is not used at the facility.

What are the white “crystals” on my dried figs? Is this mold?
No, your figs are not moldy. When the naturally occurring sugars in figs “crystalize” and come to the surface of the fig, it can leave a sort of white-ish layer of tiny sugar crystals. Your figs are still perfectly fine to eat! These crystals are a natural part of the fig that have simply shown themselves on the outside. Some customers enjoy their figs even more this way, others prefer to give them a wash with warm water to dissolve the crystals. This is not mold, and again is perfectly safe for you to eat.
